4th century BC and as for the authorship it is entrusted to the Greek philosopher Socrates, although there are no total details that allow to affirm it.On the side of those who oppose that maieutics is a Socratic invention, the main argument they outline is that the method employed by Socrates was based on irony, the popular Socratic irony, which he set out to demonstrate to the interlocutor that what he thought he knew was actually sustained by his prejudices. Meanwhile, maieutics relies on the theory of memory.
Without a doubt, maieutics requires the ability of each person to discover the truth within themselves.
