DHL and FedEx are two of the most important companies in the world in the parcel transport sector.
DHL was founded in 1969, being at that time fully focused on shipping documents between San Francisco and Honolulu. Little by little DHL was expanding its radius of action, although always paying special attention to transport intercontinental and overseas territories.
However, the success of FedEx, pushed the company to begin a powerful expansion by territory American throughout the 1980s. It is currently the largest company in the sector with more than 300,000 employees spread across the globe. It is specialized in shipping by sea and air.
As part of your strategy differentiation with respect to its competitors, DHL has shown public concern about the care of the environment, carrying out different innovations to reduce the contamination generated by your shipments.
In addition, DHL has gained strong international recognition for being one of the few transport companies of goods operating in “hostile” territories such as North Korea, the Soviet Union, Cuba, China, Iraq, Iran and Vietnam.
FedEx is a US-based company founded by Frederick W. Smith in 1971, under the name Federal Express. This name was used until 2000, at which time it was replaced by the abbreviation that we know today. Today FedEx operates in more than 220 countries and provides job 275,000 workers worldwide.
It is a company that has always been committed to innovations in the courier and package delivery sector. Thus, one of the most recognizable brands of FedEx is its night shipments, ensuring delivery within 24 hours. Additionally, FedEx pioneered the use of shipment trackers, allowing its customers to know where their package is at all times.
FedEx offers its services through multiple divisions specialized in a specific sector. For example, FedEx Express is the part of the business focused on delivering packages by airplane, while FedEx Ground performs the same task but by land.
Finally, FedEx accumulates numerous recognitions that present it as one of the most admired entities in the world, at the same time that it is often named as one of the best places to work.
