The emotions are psychological and physiological reactions that occur in the face of a stimulus. The feelings they are perceptive responses that originate in the face of emotions, that is, they are states of mind that arise as a consequence of an emotion.
For example, the smell of a cake (a stimulus) can produce happiness (an emotion), because it is associated with a good memory. At the same time, this emotion can produce happiness (a feeling).
Confusion between the two terms is very common in everyday language, but in psychology and neuroscience these words make reference to different concepts, since they present differences in relation to their causes, their intensity, their duration, among others.
