Importance of Tone of Voice and Impact on Conversation

In the communication human, many factors intervene in a joint way. We use words, we use a language non-verbal through our gestures and attitudes and we also use a certain tone of voice. If we focus on this last aspect, communication experts maintain that the tonality of the voice is decisive in many ways.

An element that marks us as individuals

Each person has their own voice, to the point that we are able to identify others simply by listening to them and without the need for any eye contact.

Be part of our personality. In this sense, with it we communicate emotions, attitudes and a degree of personal involvement. At the same time, the image we project onto others depends to a large extent on the tone of voice we have.

The determined use depends on the context in which we find ourselves. A situation of personal intimacy, the family environment or the work context is not the same. It would be inappropriate to use the same tonality in totally different situations.

The speed that we print when speaking, the tone that we use or the clarity in the articulation of the words also intervene in the use of the voice and all of this influences who listens to us. An incorrect articulation of words communicates that someone has some kind of problem (insecurity, nervousness or apathy). Certain levels are sometimes a clear message of lying.

In certain professional activities it plays an essential role

An actor, a teacher or a radio announcer work with the voice. In fact, it is one of his work tools. These professionals transmit energy to those who listen to them. A vital tone arouses interest and a dull tone generates discouragement.

The credibility of the information communicated depends not only on the message but also on the level used. It must be taken into account that those professionals who use the voice as a tool need to be persuasive and for this they must modulate the voice avoiding monotony. A message transmitted in a monotonous way ends up boring the interlocutor.

Finally, the seductive voices are those that are perceived without stridency, softly and with a certain melody and sweetness.

Male voices are generally deeper than female ones. In this sense, a masculine timbre will convey authority, trust and respect, while the feminine voice timbre communicates tranquillity, understanding and closeness.
