The use of firearms is surrounded by controversy in several senses. In countries like the United States there is a debate permanent among those who defend the total Liberty for the acquisition of weapons and those who believe that there should be a more exhaustive control. Likewise, it should not be forgotten that firearms produce innocent victims as a result of accidents or recklessness.
Another aspect that generates controversy is the "easy trigger" of some members of the police forces.
A totally illegitimate abuse of authority
The expression easy trigger is a literal translation from English, as it comes from “easy trigger”. It refers to the conduct irresponsible of some policemen in the handling of weapons. Thus, when they are faced with an alleged criminal, instead of respecting his life and following the correct procedure, there are police officers who make the decision to shoot and end his life.
As a general criterion, the usual victims of the easy trigger are in the marginal suburbs of the big cities.
The typical situations related to this phenomenon are normally known when unexpectedly a surveillance camera records some images in which a policeman shoots a person who is helpless. Faced with these types of images, the public opinion he reacts uneasily, as he observes that a member of the police acts as if he were a criminal.
Logically, this exchange of roles in which the good do evil, it is an anomalous situation that produces the rejection of the majority of society.
When police forces behave irresponsibly in the use of weapons, it is very likely that there is a climate of generalized corruption.
A policeman can use the violence or firearms under certain conditions. First of all, when he has to defend himself against an attack. On the other hand, the recourse for violence has to be proportionate (it would not be admissible for a policeman to fire his weapon because someone has verbally insulted him).
If a police officer kills an individual with a gunshot and it is shown that his interpretation of legitimate defense is incorrect, said police officer could be charged with voluntary manslaughter.
Among criminals
If a bank robber or any type of criminal has an "easy trigger" this means that he uses the weapons of fire as a usual modus operandi, because instead of intimidating its victims, it chooses the most bloodthirsty option and violent Whoever acts in this way becomes a very dangerous figure.
