Definition of Comic Con

Good fans of pop culture, which goes beyond the world of comics, know that every summer an international convention is held in the Californian city of San Diego. It is one of the most prestigious world events in the comic sector and has been taking place since 1970, and as a result of its success, various editions are observed throughout the planet.

What can we find at Comic Con?

Every year the organizers try to improve themselves with all kinds of events and activities. In most editions, attendees can take part in costume contests with the clothing of famous people. The latest editorial news appears and great creators sign autographs. Thematic conferences are held and awards and distinctions are also given (the Eisner Awards are considered the Oscars of the comic world).

Comic Con attendees can find Star Wars merchandise, fans dressed up as Superman, Batman, Iron Man or any of their favorite characters (who he disguises himself with fictional clothing, he is a cosplayer and everything that surrounds this world is known by the word cosplay, a contraction of costume play or game of costume).

In order for the event to be a success, the support for Volunteers and attendees have to register online in advance. In recent editions the number of 100,000 fans has been exceeded (in the comic world, followers are known by the term fandom). Each year participants can purchase an official Comic Con t-shirt. This fair is so popular all over the world that it attracts public from all countries and for this reason It is quite common to enter the venue after long hours of waiting.

Other similar international events

The love for comics is a phenomenon scale international and with millions of followers. The success of the San Diego Comic Con has been exported to other countries. Thus, there are annual conventions such as Comic Con Flow in Argentina, Cos-Mo in the Italian city of Modena, the Canadian Fan Expo, the Puerto Rico Comic Con, the London Film and Comic Con or the New York Comic With.

In Brazil, it bears the name of CCXP, for Experience, being the largest of Latin America, and giving itself the luxury of comparing itself with the original in terms of attendance as a result of the intense culture that exists in the country that accompanies the news that revolve around this invitation.
