Zumba is a discipline of Colombian origin that combines cardiovascular physical exercise with dance, preferably Latin rhythms, such as salsa, merengue or samba. As for the word zumba, it must be remembered that in Colombia zumba is synonymous with party.
General aspects of zumba
The practitioners of this sport-dance they perform a series of steps that imitate the movements of a monitor and all this with a music very dynamic background.
Zumba can be practiced by people of any gender or age and is ideal for those who are bored with traditional gymnastic exercises and looking for entertainment and escape.
The purpose of this discipline is the toning of the whole body without forgetting the aerobic benefit. On the other hand, it improves coordination body and timing. Being an energetic exercise, this translates into a natural enhancer of the hormones that the brain generates, endorphins. At the same time, its social dimension should not be ignored, since it is normally carried out in a group, in an environment playful and festive.
Zumba choreographies gradually progress in level (there are classes for beginners, with a medium or advanced level).
While it is recommended for anyone who wants to exercise and have fun, it is especially advisable to reduce weight (in one class you can lose up to 800 calories).
Despite its undeniable benefits, Zumba is a repetitive exercise and this can lead to some injuries (for example, to the ankles).
The keys to your success
A sedentary life is bad for your health and millions of people around the world practice some activity to improve their physical condition. There are physical exercises of all kinds (with machines, air free, to practice alone or in a group, with or without music). However, the zumba presents a Format very original and different from the others. In fact, his formula could be summarized as follows: sport + music + fun. These elements explain his success beyond his country of origin. In a few years, Zumba has become a mass phenomenon all over the planet: with classes in gyms and through you tube, specialized accessories and sportswear line, video games, events and, in a nutshell, what some call the world buzzes.
