The name of cabin is used to refer to a type of house normally made with natural materials that are obtained directly from the environment. The cabin is a type of house typical of rural or natural environments, especially forests and spaces where there is a significant abundance of wood (main material with which this house is built).

A cabin is normally a house of different sizes that has as one of its main characteristics the fact that being built with natural and accessible materials, it can be developed by individuals of different resources, for which you can find a cabin with a minimum area as well as very spacious cabins with many environments. A cabin is considered to be one of the simplest forms of housing as it does not require very expensive materials nor does it require a design or engineering very developed. In this sense, depending on the type of cabin, it can be more or less resistant to nature, therefore, in cases of strong storms, tornadoes and other types of disasters it can be easily destroyed.

A cabin is a good way to peacefully interact with the environment and this is because generally the cabins are in natural spaces but also because they are not usually present in it in an abundant way. This means that cabins, unlike other types of housing such as buildings, do not significantly alter the space but tend to coexist with it. In some cases the cabins may even have annexes such as farms, grazing areas for animals, areas of culture, etc.

In terms of design, the cabin usually has a main floor (to which an upper floor and even a basement can be added), a covered entrance or external rest spaces and also a gabled roof that is prepared to make the water, snow or natural debris that are deposited on it fall towards the sides, thus preventing it from recharging and running danger to collapse. In general, access to services in homes such as cabins is limited or scarce since they are located in the middle of nature, although depending on the infrastructure this can change.
