The word kidnapping is designated as the act through which an individual or group illegally deprives another or others of their Liberty, generally, for a certain time and until obtaining the so-called rescue, which can be the realization of a large sum of money or some type of political benefit, mediatic, among others. Criminals or criminals who carry out this type of crime are called kidnappers.
The modus operandi traditionally followed in a kidnapping involves, first, the tracing of the victim for several days prior to the realization of the coup, what he does, where he goes, with whom he meets, among other issues and in this way have a complete idea of what would be the most appropriate time to kidnap him, generally, in those situations in which the victim is traveling alone, either in car or walking. Then, once the kidnapping has taken place and the victim is already deprived of her freedom in some rented redoubt or belonging to some of the kidnappers, it is time to communicate with the
family of the kidnapped to notify him of the situation of his relative and demand the kind of ransom they are asking for to free him.Almost always, being a complex type of crime, kidnappings involve the participation of various criminals to carry them out and keep them until the collection of the ransom. Some will be in charge of monitoring the victim, others of providing what is necessary to keep him alive and others of telephone communications with his family or relatives. Meanwhile, once the collection of the ransom is finalized, the kidnappers will release the victim in a remote place and through which very few people circulate.
Most of the world's laws are very strict when it comes to punishing this type of crime, life sentences and even the death penalty have been issued against those who perpetrated this type of crime. One of the reasons for this is that generally this type of crime leave deep-rooted psychological consequences in the conscious and unconscious of the kidnapped and much more if it was a violent kidnapping in which he was tortured physical and psychically to the victims.
Although, for the most part, kidnapping is a crime through which criminals seek to obtain a good economic profit, it has also been a crime widely used by guerrilla or terrorist groups to achieve some type of benefit or to use them as value of change.
