The concept of exclusive is a concept that is used as a qualifying adjective to designate something that does not include all the elements that can compose the whole, but it marks differences with some of them and therefore does not integrates. The word can be used in various ways and in various situations, some more positive and others more negative in regards to its connotation.
To say that something is exclusive means to say that that something does not include everything that could possibly include it. When, for example, we speak of an exclusive group, we are saying that this group of people or elements can exclude its members according to specific characteristics as we can also be saying that if one does not meet the required traits he can directly not be integrated into the same.
As said, the word can be used in many different situations and with various uses. However, it is important to point out that whenever we talk about something being exclusive, we are referring to something that has certain characteristics and that if those characteristics are not respected, it cannot be integrated with other similar elements but not equal.
Although there are many examples to graph the meaning of the word as was done above, in the social sphere we find a clearly negative meaning and that is when we talk about the social exclusion of any type. Social exclusion means that various groups (majority or minority) exclude conditions worthy of life, rights, benefits, to other social groups that may be discriminated against based on issues of ethnicity, identitycultural, economy, political positions, etc. Thus, for example we can say that for a long time access to the participationpolitics It was an exclusive phenomenon that meant that not all citizens could vote but only some of them could do so because they considered themselves superior or more capable than the rest. Another historical example is when civil rights were recognized only for a small portion of the population, an exclusive group (usually the whites, the powerful, the richest) could access them while the rest of society did not have access to them.
