In its broadest sense, the term innocent is used to refer to that or that which does not harm or offend in any way and that does not present any type of malice in its actions. I was the victim of an innocent joke by my fellow students, so I couldn't even get mad.
On the other hand, the term innocent is frequently used to refer to someone who displays a behavior naive or a thought of this type. Juan is so, so innocent that he thinks he can change the strong corruption that has been in the company for years on his own.
Also, when a person is extremely easy to fool because she is too trusting of everyone, it is often talked about in terms of innocent. MarĂa is so innocent that we made her believe that Juan, the most attractive of her class, is deeply in love with her and believed it.
