Orthographic accent

The orthographic accent (or accent mark) is the writing of the phonetic accent, understanding the latter as the greatest intensity or force with which the syllable of a word is pronounced. For example: camión, átree, mácinchona.

The orthographic accent is graphed with a small, right-slanting line that is placed by above that vowel that is part of the stressed syllable, that is, the one that sounds louder than the rest.

The diacritical accent

It is used in those words that, although they are pronounced the same, have different meanings. So, the function that this accent fulfills is precisely to allow them to be differentiated. These accents are placed even when the conventional spelling rules do not provide so.
