The term detective is used to designate those persons who perform a function of investigation at the police or private level. Detectives can be considered as figures inside of force police since in most cases they work within it, but when they do not they also seek to resolve situations of conflict, crimes or different phenomena that need further investigation. Detectives can work alone or with others and generally must have a significant dose of cunning and intelligence to solve the cases assigned to them.
Detectives are usually very stereotyped characters due to the presence they have played in the field of literature of police fiction. In this sense, legendary characters like Sherlock Holmes and others have contributed to generating a very particular detective figure associated with 19th century London.
However, detectives can be ordinary people. Thus, we can say that the position of detective is one of the charges that we find within the police force. They are not the same as ordinary officers or police, but they are people who work as
civil (that is, that they do not wear the police uniform) and that they do not have the objective of prevention of crimes if not your solution from the evidence given. In reality, detectives often find themselves having to solve and complete reports and office paperwork rather than putting their knowledge into practice. When we speak of private detectives, who are not part of the police force, we refer to people who are hired by individuals for specific cases. In general, they move independently and have their own evidence analysis system as well as different technological equipment. Although this idea of the private detective may sound very fantastic nowadays, it is true and it is customary to use the detective to resolve economic, love, labor conflicts, etc.
